When was the last time you encouraged yourself to be tolerant of others? The thing is, it is difficult for humans to realize tolerance. Living in the midst of human diversity, not only based on cultural background, ethnicity, race, and religion, but also social status, family members, education, and others. We need to learn and develop a tolerant attitude in our daily life, though the United Nations agency, UNESCO makes it always good to have one occasion to remind us just how important tolerance is. On November 16, 1995, in order to define and provide awareness of tolerance for any and all governing and participating bodies, UNESCO created the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance, and today may still be prevalent in the world to help spread tolerance and raise awareness of any intolerance on every November 16.

According to the declaration, tolerance is recognized as a universal human right to respect and appreciate the rich variety of the world’s culture, forms of expression, and ways of being human. Tolerance is a fundamental freedom of others because humans are naturally diverse, therefore tolerance is the only way to ensure the survival of mixed communities in every region of the globe.
